You already know that Google Analytics helps you gain rich insights from your website. But did you know that when you combine Google Analytics with Google AdWords search advertising, you can get even more from your website -- more traffic, more qualified visitors and more business. With Google AdWords, you can easily create ads that appear next to relevant search results on Google, and target potential customers at the precise moment they're searching for the products or services you offer.Which would be great except for a few key details. First, I'm not even sure what "qualified visitors" are to me. Visitors who watch the Bachelor? People who like restaurant magicians? Those who were traumatized by Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer? Because those are the things I write about. I don't think people are actively searching for those things. My blog is not what you'd call a niche market.
I appreciate Google Analytics and their offer to help, I really do. It's very kind of them to think of me, and while yes, I could use a new phone like the awesome one my hubby just bought that does EVERYTHING and advertising would surely help fund that, I really don't have anything to sell. Unless I start knitting sweaters and scarves using the metric ton of fur my cats shed on the daily. Wait -- not a bad idea.
But Google Analytics, dude, it's amazing. Quick, do go it and it will change your life. With Analytics, I get to see exactly what people are searching for who get to my site. Here's a little sample list:
Apparently writing about fat baby cheeks that one time makes me the all time blog expert on it and I don't even have kids. Also, yes, candy canes do go stale and the person would came here using that search term would have known that should they have stayed longer than 0 seconds on my blog.
But wait, there's more!
Um, you do die in Lego Indiana Jones. You die over and over again and it takes your husband 20 years to get through a level and in the meantime you've missed lots of awesome TV and have eaten a whole box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch and have inadvertently stayed up till 3 in the morning. Trust me, I know.
And also, if blogging about Shania Twain was an Olympic Sport, I'd be all Shaun White up in your face, gettin' the gold medal. Although inquiring minds wanted to know if Shania was at the Olympics, came to my blog and didn't bother staying to read. Sad face.
And can we also talk about: naked heels or shoes "lost her clothes" for a second? Because I don't remember writing anything about that.
So what can you learn about me from my Google Analytics?
1. Watches the Bachelor
2. Likes fat babies
3. Know a lot about Shania Twain
4. Nothing else of substance
Do you' guys run Analytics? Any weird keywords pop up?
Updated to add: Hutch at Be Awesome Instead wrote an Analytics post today, too! Rock on!

Hi! I'm visiting from SITS.
I use google analytics and yes, I too have had weird keywords pop up. It's quite comical sometimes. I like using it to track the number of visitors to my site.
Have a great day!
HAHA.... good one !!!
Yup I use google analytics but on my Etsy shop actually.. http://ramyap.etsy.com
Haven't set on for my blog though, may be I will one day!!!

I get a lot of people looking for pictures of George Eads. Apparently he is very famous overseas.
Someone found me today by searching for the Bon Qui Qui rap which I happen to LOVE.
I'm glad to know you post about baby fat cheeks, I came to the right place.
Ha, that's awesome. The writer behind I'm Bringing Blogging Back does a periodic post about search words that lead to his site. It's hilarious. Way to be an expert on fat baby cheeks.
I use it too. Looking at the keywords makes my day. Good stuff. Recently someone searched "boys hair permed". Somehow that lead them to me.
This is great! I have one of these coming up. I checked the other day, and people search for some disturbing, disturbing stuff, and they get my blog. WTH?
haha, that is awesome! I am the one who was probably on for 45 minutes...I tend to leave the computer to tend to a screaming child and forget...it could have been me Im just saying!
Bachelor, fat babies, and Shania all good!
This is hilarious and I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one whose husband is obsessed with Lego Indiana Jones!
I LOVE this and thanks for the mention! Joshua Jackson totally came back and searched for himself today, and I had 3 more hits on Tim Hortons maple log...first thing I try on my next trip to Canadialand!
Super fat babies are adorable!
I use analytics on my blog but I really like it because I can see where people are coming from around the world checking out my blog.
I use FeedJit - it is so interesting to see how people come to my blog - they are searching for things I didn't think they would search for!
Found you on Lady Blogger!
None for me since I am on WP.com. But I wanted to pop over after reading your great post on Lady Bloggers today.
I find google to be amazing! And it's also easy!! I just added google follow to my website. I also get google alerts. That tells me when someone has mentioned me or my website that day. Congrats on being featured Lady Blogger! Looking forward to looking through your website more!

Happy SITS Saturday Sharefest!
I use Google Analytics on my site:
http://twinbabiessoadorable.blogspot.com
I get some weird stuff too!
that's funny. i just installed it this week, so we'll see what happens!!
I had someone come to my blog after searching for "My boobs". Who on earth searches for that? I can see searching for "boobs" in general but MY boobs? What?
great post! I just found out about google analytics and somehow haven't got it set up right or something. I use feedjit too, it's free. I also use sitemeter - it's free as well. The funny thing is they don't seem to track everyone. I had a random slightly mean comment made (I always have it set for me to approve them first) and of course they were "anonymous". I could not find a correlating time/place for that comment at all on either feedjit or sitemeter....hence the signing up for the google one. Didn't realize I could track what people were looking for when they found me! Although on site meter, on their visit information it shows where they came from and what they clicked on when they left. Most of the ones coming from google have made sense...so far.
notquiteawake - LOL!
Hi, I'm cheating on the SITS Saturday thing. Found your blog and figured; Hhmmm, I'm from Florida, I like the way this gal thinks, I think I'll stalk .... uhh, follow her.
Hope you don't mind!
;)
I use Google Analytics and it concerns me what people are looking up. One of my main one is "hot park rangers"...scarey.
Happy SITS Saturday Sharefest
The Park Wife
So how do I run Google analytics? I am really curious about that for both of my blog. Thanks for stopping by. Happy SITS Saturday!
Yes I'm mildy obsessed with looking at google analytics everyday. I also am interested in the key words that make my blog pop up but usually its not as exciting as fat baby cheeks. So far my favorite key word search is "do you realize how hard that makes me like" which was a quote from the office. Also apparenty if you search for "fun facts about brussels sprouts" you may also be led to my blog
*running to perform Google analytics* I can only imagine the hours of hilarity this activity will provide.
I just signed up for Google Analytics. I can't wait to see what pops up.
I used to have analytics on my blog but they went bye-bye when I got a blog makeover. I keep thinking that I'll go back to it but, honestly, it was one more thing for me to check every day and obssess about.
Geesh. Who knew? I could've been writing about my lil' dudes chubby cheeks and brought in a whole new readership. Ah ha ha
Weird, I totally need to go check that out!
Who doesn't love fat babies...that's one of the only reasons to watch Maury Povich.
This is so funny!
I don't have it set up on my blog (or if I do I've never seen it). I can only wonder what weird stuff it would show me!
Hilarious! Your blog is awesome for a Monday drive by to get a laugh. I love that the most random stuff comes up for analytics.
"Also speak English much?" LMAO!
Btw, I'm actually from Tennessee, but went to school at the University of Cincinnati and that's where my mom and some other family home. I consider it "home."
