- Food
- Wine
- Disney World
Besides, how could we spend weekends at Disney World, enjoying delicious food and wine, when we've invested a small fortune in the NFL, NBA and college football packages on DirecTV? Blasphemy.
When I started seeing commercials for the Food & Wine Festival, I got a little case of the sads. We always went for the booze and stayed for the delightfully lame entertainment: Enrique Inglesias. Taylor Hicks. Air Supply.
So, no booze. No tasty, international dishes. No Jon Secada or Hanson.
But I'm having a baby, so that totally makes up for it.
But then I saw a Tweet that rocked my world:
Um.
Excuse me?
Boyz II Men.
Boyz. Two Capital "i"s. MEN?
ONLY my favorite R&B quartet in 1995. ONLY giving a FREE concert at Epcot.
Kaching! and Jackpot! If only......................................................
Baby Blogworthy, you have really put me in a pickle now, what with your sitting on my bladder so I have to pee every three seconds, and your big, hard head all but stopping the circulation in my legs, giving me a wicked cankle, and your little toes kicking my bronchial tubes so I sound like an asthmatic old man. And now making me MISS OUT on this concert.
I wont' soon let you forget the year you were happily baking away while I had to miss Boyz II Men's big theme park comeback, and don't you EVEN think I won't bring it up.
Baby Blogworthy: Mom, I don't want to clean my room because I want to go play with my friends instead.Me: Well I didn't want to miss the Boyz II Men concert in November 2010, but I did because I was giving life to you.
And so forth. I'm all about the passive aggressive behavior.
Have you ever missed an amazing event because of some other amazing event? Isn't this a sad, sad story? Did you rock out to Boyz II Men back in the day?
Hey HEY hey, word nerd!

Loved Boys II Men back in the day! I'm actually going to see them in December with my besties...they are playing at the casino in our super small town, but we will suffer through the smoke-filled nastiness to see the Boys! :)
I love Boyz II Men so I'm very sad for you but you'll have a little bundle of joy that'll make it all worth it.
I did, in fact, rock out to Boyz II Men back in the day...with you!
Oh, but don't forget the time we also missed the free *NSYNC concert at Disney/MGM Studios because....???? Dont' remember the reason, just remember it was the biggest mistake of our Disney World lives! This will take second place to that, but you KNOW Boyz II Men will be back in a big way now and you missed out on the beginning of their comeback!
My 5th grade talent show featured a horribley awesome dance by me and two of my friends to Boyz II Men.
Speaking of, look what you missed:

i'm thinkin' that baby blogworthy is gonna hear lots on this as he/she gets older.....*wink*
You should make the baby's middle name "MotownPhilly" just as a reminder.
Um, used to rock out to Boyz II Men? I still do, baby!
So, I'm a huge sports nut. I got pregnant in March with Wee 'Burb. In August, Scott bought me tickets to a Red Sox/Yankees game. RED SOX/YANKEES! It's like if Boyz II Men teamed up with NKOTB and had babies with Tiffany that are raised by Debbie Gibson. IMPORTANT! And I went. And missed half the game in the bathroom. And drank O'Douls.
Multiple Facebook statuses went like this "dear baby, if you do not come out before the Patriots/Colts game, I will never let you live it down." I was home a few hours before the game started. She dodged a bullet there.
Sacrifices must be made...and held over the child's head FOREVER!
Um, "Boyz. Two Capital "i"s. MEN?"
Brilliance.
Way to bring the funny, sista!
They're playing at the Paramount Center in Ashland in the next few weeks......
Boyz II Men? BOYZ II MEN?? You will be able to hold that over your kids head for life. Is there any other group that can bring back memories of your first crush, school dance, or afternoons sitting up in your room? (well maybe brandy on that last one) I mean mmm-mmm-nana, mmm-mmm-nana is like the best ever!
Motown Philly, get outta here!
Honestly, I went to a concert 7 months pregnant because we got stuck with the tickets and it was miserable. Just miserable.
So good call not going over there. You are a wise woman.
I missed the Taste of Chicago this year for the same reason. I guess this one gets to stay on the "Next Year I'm Totally..." list, right along with the 5K I was supposed to do (but threw up instead) and the fishing trip up North (which was really just an awesome excuse to get fudge from Mackinac Island). *sigh* Pregnancy sure is neato!
So, I wouldn't personally be sad about missing the Boyz II Men concert. But I do know about missing out on good stuff all for the sake of growing a baby... which is awesome and I'd do it over and over again if given the chance. But don't think I'm not keeping my own little list to hold over baby's head. ;)
At 7 months pregnant, I went with my husband as a chaperone for his high school marching band from Atlanta to Disney World on a charter bus. I'll give you a second to let that sink in... Funny how the greatest group of theme parks on earth becomes completely awful and wretched when you can't ride ANY of the fun rides so you get stuck carrying everyone else's bags, etc. while they ride all the good rides.
This is a tragic story. Truly. It's amazing how kids can manage to be so selfish before they even are, technically, able to breath on their own.
I was in your shoes last fall! Couldn't drink, couldn't walk anywhere cause I'd get out of breath. It gets much better and time goes by so quickly once that baby arrives!
I LOVE that you will hold this over your child's head one day.
Really funny post!
Air Supply? Lame entertainment?
"Every Woman in the World?"
"All Out of Love?"
"Lost In Love?
Actually, yeah... they are kind of lame.
Dude! Boyz II Men is the shiznit! I heard on the radio today that they may be a super secret surprise guest for the new NKOTB/Back Street Boys tour!!!
And yes every time we were at a bar or a restaurant or a party and everyone was enjoying a nice refreshing beer or any sort of alcohol I would remind the peanut in my belly that I was sacrificing a lot for her.
I LOVE THOSE GUYS.
I'm totally shaking my fist at Baby Blogworthy right now for making you miss out on this, but you're right...this is something that you can hold over his head well into his teenage years and maybe even his adulthood.
Buahahah! Oh, Baby Blogworthy, the making up you have to do. Wasn't a Boyz II Men fan, but I can appreciate that you were :)
I'm SO proud of you! You've got the whole parental passive aggressive thing down pat! Now you just have to work on the guilt trips and you'll be an old pro! Congrats!
I just went to the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot this past October for the first time ever. I loved it! Sorry you had to miss it (and Boys II Men) this year. I'm sure your baby on the way will make up for it someday.
MAN - I loved Boys II Men back in the day, like love, love. Darn that little bundle in your belly. You should totally hold it over that little ones head for a lonnnng time. I'm pretty sure my mom went to lots of concerts when I was in her belly but she wasn't braving MILLION degree heat to do so.
